Dear Constituent,
Thank you for contacting the Mayor's Hotline about sidewalk repair. Your service request, opened on 11/8/11 at 2:33 PM, is case number 101000352062.
Our Public Works Department responds immediately to public safety issues in order to make them safe, typically with a temporary asphalt patch.
If there is additional work needed, the department will schedule permanent repair to be completed within a year to eighteen months. Please note that major sidewalk and roadway reconstruction may be deemed a capital repair and require engineering and budget review.
If you have any questions about the case, please contact the Mayor's Hotline at (617) 635-4500. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to answer any questions or handle any City service issues you may have.
You can also track the status of your request online by going to the following site: http://www.cityofboston.gov/

Mayor's Hotline Staff
However, I just received an email from the person I chatted with. The speed and follow through are exceptional. Now, it's up to the state to repair... Good luck.
I just spoke with my supervisor to see how we could expedite your request. He informed me that we actually do not have jurisdiction over that bridge. The bridge is actually owned and maintained by the state. I went ahead and forwarded your request to them making sure to note in my report the severity of the deterioration. Please let me know if you have any questions but be aware that since this is a state issue the tracking number you will be sent will not work in this case. You can reach me at this email address or at 617-635-4500 if you have any further questions. Thank you again for submitting this request.
This is a bridge one block over to the east on Washington St which was redone.
